Typical mathematical frameworks for modelling the blocking behaviour of a filter due to particle deposition fall into one two categories: continuum approximation, whereby is assumed occur in such way that all pores material are same state at any given time; or discrete model, where treated as individual events both space and time. While former computationally inexpensive, latter allows variation from pore pore. This pore-to-pore has been shown provide qualitative change observed filtration essential reproduce experimental observations. We present hybrid model describes location depositions manner while retaining discrete, stochastic component capture time which event occurs. The able grade between aforementioned extreme cases through parameter controls spatial extent event. enables us uncover nature process changes these pre-existing models. also captures key ingredients fully fraction computational cost, making it ready use describe other complex scenarios.
